The city of Béjar is located in the extreme south-eastern province of Salamanca, bordering the provinces of Avila and Caceres, to 72km from Salamanca.
Béjar offers visitors a wealth of tourist attractions, places, squares, historic buildings, such as "El Bosque de Béjar" (Villa Renaissance of the sixteenth century), Palazzo Ducale (by Zúñiga Built in the sixteenth century), the Convent San Francisco (XIII century), the Walls (built by the Muslims Bejarano in the XI century), the Teatro Cervantes (Elizabethan-style theater built in 1857), the Shrine of Castañar (built after the apparition of the Virgin of Castañar patron of the city), Plaza de toros (considered the oldest in Spain) and Santa María la Mayor (jewelry houses including the altarpiece of the Assumption of the seventeenth century).
